How to Become a CISSP

You need the following to pass (ISC) 2 CISSP:

Get five years of work experience in the security field: you must be able to demonstrate five years of full-time paid work experience in at least two of the eight areas of the Common Body of Knowledge (CISSP), i.e. safety and risk management, resources and security technology, communications and network security, identity and access management, security assessment and testing, security operations in software development. Workplace experience is crucial for both the exam and the certification process.

Prepare and pass the CISSP exam: complete the CISSP exam with a minimum score of 700 out of 1,000. The exam lasts six hours and consists of a mix of multiple questions and advanced innovative questions. It costs $ 699. The CISSP (ISC) 2 website offers a download of the exam overview and a link to a study app (available on the App Store and Google Play for about $ 10), a study guide, tutorial and a variety of other exams - preparatory tools. You can also get the official textbook and test your knowledge with CISSP Flash Cards. If you need more than just self-study material, (ISC) 2 and many third parties offer CISSP instructions and online training. Training costs vary widely, but the online self-study course costs over (ISC) 2 $ 2,795. Classroom training costs much more. Before planning the exam with Pearson VUE, you need to review the basic qualifications that may exclude you from the exam.

Receive confirmation to become a CISSP: after completing the CISSP exam, you must enroll in the Code of Ethics (ISC) 2 and complete an approval form to become a CISSP. The approval form must be signed by another certified specialist (ISC) 2 who will review your work experience. You must submit the completed form within nine months of passing the exam to obtain full certification since passing the exam does not automatically guarantee the status of the certification.
After receiving full certification, you will need to re-certify your credentials every three years. CISSPs must pay a maintenance fee of $ 85 during the three year cycle (total $ 255). It is also necessary to send 40 CPE points (continuous professional training) every year, for a total of 120 CPEs per three-year cycle.
