Operational Officers manage and streamline the day-to-day operations of companies across a variety of sectors across the public, private and non-profit sectors. They typically work at the executive level and report directly to the CEO, which gives them a high level of influence, but also an extensive list of responsibilities. This includes leading teams of workers, analyzing performance data and defining strategies for the future. Monitor operational procedures

The operations officer designs new strategies in reaction to market changes. These innovative procedures are intended to increase the growth or efficiency of the company. The operations officer is personally responsible for the effective execution of these new strategies.

Manage available resources

The operations officer sets priorities and manages company resources to achieve goals and milestones. This includes both material and personal resources, and operational officers often hire, fire, motivate and train staff.

Communicate the progress of operations

Regular analysis of operational activities allows the operations manager to evaluate the overall performance of the company. They present this information to the executive management team through written reminders and oral presentations. Operational officers also contribute to leadership discussions and help develop strategies on how to improve performance.

Team management

As the executive leadership arm, operations officers are responsible for a subset of departments and teams. They develop successful, high-performing teams through effective training, motivation and communication.
